Guide to Luxury Candles & Diffusers in Hong Kong

Finding the perfect scent for your home is a very personal experience and usually requires in-store visits to see what tingles the senses most. Once you’ve found your favourite, however, shopping for candles and diffusers becomes a tad easier. There are of course, several bestsellers which garner the attention and likes of many, celebrated for their alluring aromas. Cha Siu Papers Times rounds up some of the best places in Hong Kong to get your candle and diffuser fix.

Cochine

Inspired by the elegant Saigon, Cochine uses the finest essential oils from plants unique to Vietnam. With a range of luxury candles, diffusers and fragrances to choose from, the brand captures an essence reminiscent of tropical sun-kissed evenings. Founded by skincare and fragrance specialist Kate Crofton-Atkins, who moved to Saigon upon falling in love with the city’s romantic aura, Cochine offers charming scents which embody beauty, quality and style. Goutal

Founded in France in 1981 by Annick Goutal, the Goutal perfumery specialises in fragrance with collections ranging from luxury perfumes, diffusers, candles, home scents, body creams and more. With a fascinating history ranging from Goutal’s background in music (being a pianist), modelling and eventually perfume creation, the label pays tribute to her lifeline—blending poetry, nature, culture and music in her work. Maison Goutal opened its Hong Kong outpost in 2019 and offers a sensory experience for all its visitors. Try the signature L’Eau d’Hadrien Candle (HK$610/185g), also Goutal’s first and most well-loved curation, for a touch of Tuscan sun, a scent inspired by lemon trees and cypress to reflect the treasured Memoirs of Haden passage.

Carroll & Chan

“Hive to Home” is the slogan behind Hong Kong-born brand Carroll & Chan. If you’re familiar with the beeswax-crafted candles, and the alluring diffusers, then you’d know that the label is not just famed for its eco-friendly initiatives—their beautiful packaging is also worth a mention. Each scent is inspired by a part of Asia, whilst the unique designs are hand-painted by local designers. Jo Malone

The epitome of luxury candles, Jo Malone is hot on the radar for many scent seekers. An award-winning fragrance house, the London-born brand is famed for its collection of candles, diffusers and perfumes for the modern home.
